The Greenwood Accord
What players would know
The Greenwood Accord is the name druids give to an old, practical truth: the wild is not a backdrop. It is a network of relationships—spirits, places, seasons, and debts—and people who live close to it can be accepted into that network.
Those “confirmed” by the Accord do not gain a pet or a servant. They gain a spirit ally: a local presence that offers perception and warning, and withdraws when abused.
Confirmation (as told in the wilds)
At a certain age—or moment of calling—a person enters a sacred forest alone with one instruction: listen.
No weapons. No companions. No guarantee of return.
If the Accord answers, the person comes back with a bond: a spirit that will sometimes guide them, sometimes refuse them, and always remember what they do to the land.
Common rumors
- The spirit chooses whether to answer; “being brave” doesn’t make it say yes.
- Break faith and the punishment isn’t lightning. It’s absence: paths close, animals stop warning you, the ally goes quiet.
- A druid and a ranger can be bonded to the same kind of spirit and still disagree about what it wants.
