What players would know
Some druid circles speak of The Living Script: the belief that the wild does not keep holy books, and that memory is safest when it is carried by a living body.
Their elders bear intricate runic tattoos that record oaths taken, rites performed, groves tended, and losses endured. The markings are not decoration. They are an archive written in scar and ink.
When a druid dies, their body is burned. If a story wasn’t passed on before the pyre, it is gone. That’s why some druids recruit so insistently: not to win arguments, but to keep enough living “pages” for the Script to survive.
Common rumors
- Elder druids can be “read” by other druids the way priests read scripture.
- A dead druid without a successor is called a burned library.
- Some circles refuse to ink spellwork onto the same skin as the Script, calling it “smudging the record.”
