Shifting Oases

What players would know

In the desert, an oasis is not a town. It’s an appointment: water that agrees to be in one place for a while.

Because oases move, ownership is never comfortable. When multiple groups arrive at the same water, you get negotiation, withdrawal, or violence with rules—because the alternative is war that poisons the only thing everyone needs.

Common rumors

  • Some oases “shift” overnight after a tremor, leaving camps stranded with empty skins.
  • The smartest caravans arrive with witnesses, not just guards.
