Session 4 Player Recap - Broadbarrel Road (2026-04-08)
Session 4 Recap: Broadbarrel Road
The investigation left Hochsilvar behind and turned into an embedded road job.
Recap
You briefed your handler on what you had learned: the vault breach relied on living Valdieri blood, Branka was tied to the road lane, and Broadbarrel was the strongest live lead. The answer back was simple: you had done enough to move. The city was now delay, not progress.
At that same briefing, Ishtar joined the team as an additional covert operative.
With fresh horses and urgency on your side, you left Hochsilvar and pushed onto the Broadbarrel route. On the road you picked up a strange omen: a mottled rabbit that watched rather than fled, suggesting that the forest had noticed you.
Instead of trying to hit the caravan from outside, you got ahead of it, waited, and made contact under a plausible traveler cover story. That worked. You met Velka Dorr first, then negotiated passage onto the Broadbarrel Caravan through Henrik Volmar.
By the end of the session, you were no longer chasing Broadbarrel from the outside. You were inside it, watching how it moved, how its guards worked, and how carefully Branka’s people controlled the road.
What players would know
- You reported your findings and got authorization to move immediately.
- Ishtar joined the team.
- You caught up to Broadbarrel and successfully joined the caravan as paying travelers.
- You made first contact with Velka Dorr.
- Henrik Volmar admitted you onto the caravan.
- You confirmed that Branka’s escort is disciplined, professional, and used to working together.
- You did not yet confirm exactly where the refined magic is hidden among the cargo.
Current working picture
- Broadbarrel is still the correct lead.
- Branka is still central to the road side of the problem.
- The escort is too organized to treat as ordinary hired muscle.
- The best path forward is observation, patience, and finding the real load before forcing a confrontation.
Active leads for next session
- Work out which cargo cluster actually matters.
- Watch whether Branka favors a particular wagon or section of the train.
- Learn the camp routine, wagon order, and weak points without getting read too early.
- Decide when embedded observation stops being enough and pressure has to escalate.
