Scrying is a family of divination practices used to observe a distant person or place through a medium (a bowl of water, a mirror, a polished stone, smoke). Most people know it exists. Most people also know you don’t talk loudly about who can do it well.

• The rich pay for privacy wards the way they pay for locks.
• If you can’t be found, it’s because someone wants you unfound.
