Desert Bamboo (Fast-Growth Trees)
What players would know
Illustration (player-safe)

In the deep desert, there are stands of fast-growing “bamboo trees” that appear where water briefly agrees to exist. They are not forests. They are episodes: a sudden flare of green that becomes poles, shade ribs, tools, fuel, and then—often—vanishes as the land shifts again.
Caravan folk treat these groves like a blessing and a warning. You can build a camp from them, but you can’t build permanence. If you try, the desert collects your effort as scrap.
Common rumors
- These groves “know where water is” before scouts do.
- Some seasonal truffles form on their roots, and that fact makes people with titles unusually polite to people without them.
