Doc Benway is an undercity patch-doctor: the kind of man called when someone needs stitching, splints, a lie for the Watch, or a second opinion no temple would sign. He is competent, unsentimental, and widely believed to have saved more lives than he has ruined, though no one agrees on the ratio.
