Session 8 Recap: Blood in the Trees #

The road ahead stopped behaving like a road.

After the caravan entered the dark forest, a child’s cries drew the party away from the ordinary route. The sound came from ahead, but the trees made it difficult to judge how far away—or how safe—the child really was.

Three Hemowolves attacked. The party killed them, but the fight left Ishtar and Gashesh spattered with their blood. The party raised face masks as a wall of red-grey mist began forming across the path.

The mist is now moving toward the bodies of the dead wolves. Somewhere beyond it, the child is still crying for help.

The party has not yet reached the child or discovered what is making the mist.

What comes next #

• The mist is closing the path ahead.
• The dead wolves may not remain dead.
• Two larger tree-like guardians stand between the party and the heart of the grove.
• The child’s cries continue from inside the mist.
