Marsh-dyed textiles are one of the best-known exports of The River Marches: supple river-silk and reed-cloth worked into garments and bolts whose muted colors shift like wet stone, old bronze, moss, or storm water depending on the light.

Common rumors #

• Courtiers wear Marcher cloth and pretend not to notice where it comes from.
• The best patterns mean something; cheap copies only look expensive.
